WineGuard Tech is a deep-tech startup building optical authentication for wine and spirits labels. We use the natural, unreplicable fiber structure of premium paper as a Physical Unclonable Function — generating a unique biometric identity for every bottle at print time. No chip. No RFID. Zero added cost. Pure software on natural physics.

How WineGuard Works

Three phases. One unbreakable chain.

From print to pour: WineGuard creates a digital identity for each bottle at the moment of production — and verifies it at any point in the chain, using any smartphone.

1.

01. Enrollment — at the printer

A high-resolution scan captures the label's natural fiber structure during the standard print run. A proprietary Computer Vision algorithm generates a unique biometric hash — the Digital Twin — stored in the cloud. Time: under 1 second. No additional hardware required.

2.

02. Supply Chain Tracking

Every scan along the chain — importer, distributor, retailer — is logged to the Digital Twin with timestamp and anonymized geolocation. Deviations toward gray markets are detected in real time.

3.

03. Consumer Verification

Any smartphone. The app normalizes perspective and lighting, extracts keypoints, and compares them against the Digital Twin in the cloud. Authentic or counterfeit — in seconds.

Natural Fiber

Chaotic, unreplicable fiber deposition — created by physics, not engineering.

Biometric Hash

Thousands of keypoints extracted, encoded into a unique Digital Twin and stored in the cloud.

Anti-Spoofing Layer

3D reflectance detection distinguishes the original from any printed or digital copy.

Cold Chain Monitor

Thermochromic inks optically detect cold chain breaches. No sensors. No battery. No extra cost.

Why WineGuard

Pure software on natural physics.

Cost Disruption

0.12–0.15 EUR per label at 100k units. NFC/RFID costs 0.50–1.00 EUR. Not a marginal improvement — a category change.

vs 0.50+ EUR NFC

Zero CAPEX

Enrollment happens during the standard print run. No new machinery. No process redesign. Adoption is a software update.

Software-only

Anti-Spoofing

3D fiber depth and reflectance detection. High-resolution photocopies and screen images are rejected at the physics layer.

Multi-layer defense

Passive Cold Chain

Thermochromic inks optically monitored during verification. No sensors. No batteries. The label itself is the sensor.

Unique to WineGuard

Sustainable by Design

Agricultural waste substrates. 100% cellulose. Recycles with the bottle. ESG compliance without greenwashing.

PPWR aligned

Any Smartphone

Consumer verification requires no dedicated hardware. Any camera, any device. The market is the distribution network.

Universal access
Regulatory

Built for today's rules. Ready for tomorrow's.

EU Reg. 2021/2117 mandates digital labeling for wine since December 2023. PPWR is reshaping packaging traceability obligations. WineGuard is already compliant — and architecturally ready for every next step.

EU Reg. 2021/2117

Digital labeling mandatory since December 2023.

PPWR Aligned

Packaging traceability without additional infrastructure.

Patent Pending

Core authentication method under IP protection. UIBM filing in progress.

Future-Proof Architecture

No hardware swap required as EU packaging landscape evolves.

Every bottle that leaves your winery is already required to carry a QR code. WineGuard makes that QR physically unclonable. That is not compliance overhead — that is a competitive signal.

Collaboration

Your production already creates the perfect fingerprint.

WineGuard's authentication strength is inseparable from the substrate it runs on. We work exclusively with premium natural-fiber papers — those made from agricultural by-products such as grape pomace, hemp, and recycled cellulose fibers — whose chaotic morphological structure generates the high biometric entropy that makes every sheet physically unique. Greater fiber heterogeneity means stronger, more durable authentication: this is physics, not engineering. All substrates are 100% recyclable with the glass bottle — zero electronic waste, zero chip, zero plastic. We are actively seeking collaboration with paper mills, wineries, packaging converters, and investors who want to shape the future of authenticated packaging.

We read it. You ship it. The market trusts it.
